Well, I thought I finally found the blender for the family to make fruit smoothies every day with. Bought it the day after Christmas and for the first week, it was a dream. Worked flawlessly...and then the nut holding the blade assembly to the carafe loosened and started leaking.
I had read about others who experienced this and hoped that KitchenAid would have fixed it by now, but it looks like they haven't. I was able to tightent it and kept an eye on it every time I was going to use it for the next few weeks. I saw one more time that it got loose, so I tightened it again. But then, yesterday, it leaked again. Only this time, I couldn't tighten the nut no matter what I did! So, I returned it and I'm back to looking for a new blender.
I was only blending a mix of frozen fruit, frozen berries, bananas, and apple juice. Nothing else. I can't imagine that combination causing this to break the way it did.

Here i sit sippin a smoothie i made on this new blender ive had for about 2 months. I used to have a cheap $15 blender and it could not even crush ice. im a hard core smoothie drinker and having large chunks of ice just does not cut it (no pun intended). I saw the Vita Mix on tv and i was about to buy it but the $350 price tag is quiet steep for a blender. I just thought that there is no way a person should have to pay $350 to get a quality blendner. this blender is just as good as the vita mix except that u cant make hot soup with it. thats why i have a MICROWAVE folks. i dont need a blender that can heat things. plus the vita mix is REALLY loud and it takes like 5 minutes to heat up soup. so that means it will sound like your head is inside the engine of a Boeing 747 and i really dont need that in my house. This blender is crushes anything you put in it. Very good purchase.

Before purchasing this blender for my daughter, I read some pretty unkind reviews about it. All I can say is it has worked beautifully and my daughter absolutely loves it. She and her husband use it 3 to 4 times a day to make smoothies. She is completely satisfied with all aspects of it's performance, so far. Quiet, fast and versatile is how she describes it. Sounds like a winner to me.

I cant say enough about this blender. It is plastic, so I dont have to worry about my 2 year old getting into the cupboard and breaking it, and it blends smoothies with whole bananas and frozen berries in seconds!!! You dont have to stop it and stir the contents and start again, it blends everything the first time and its super fast!!!

I love ALL of my KitchenAid appliances, large and small. We had a KitchenAid fridge, stove, dishwasher, and food processor--and a Cuisinart blender. While it blended just fine, it did not do well in the dishwasher. It was poorly designed and never really got clean (there were hollow places in the handle, for example, where food would collect). Since the metal strap holding the handle in place finally loosened to the point where we were concerned about safety, we replaced it with a KitchenAid blender. What a joy! I wasn't originally thrilled about the plastic (vs. Cuisinart glass) bowl, but this blender bowl was DESIGNED to go in the dishwasher--water streams off of it, the whole thing gets clean, and I feel much safer with regard to food-borne illness. We're heavy blender users--we make smoothies nearly every morning and also use it for other recipes. I couldn't be happier with this one. It's noisy (aren't they all?), but powerful. And the nice cinnamon color matches my food processor, which is a nice plus. It looks good sitting on the counter, too. I would buy it again.
