I bought this based on Cook's Illustrated reviews. I've had it for a week, and it's performed just as I had hoped. It's easy to operate and easy to clean up. The polycarbonate jar is actually a plus to me. It's by no means fragile- seems very durable and not nearly as heavy as a glass jar would be. The best feature, so far, is the ice crushing. My first creation was a frozen strawberry margarita, and it was delish. I've also made pancake batter, and my son uses it every day to make smoothies. It has met every one of my expectations so far.

This Kitchenaid blender is well made and built to last. It includes a large-capacity, easy-pour jar and a base that is easy to operate and clean. It purees beautifully - foods are easily processed to a velvety consistency. There is one drawback - and it is minor: it's a little louder than I expected. However, that may be typical of powerful appliances such as this.

I paid between 82 and 83 dollars for this item at Amazon--a sale price. Went to Macy's, and the comparable model was 99 dollars. I am pleased with the purchase from Amazon. The only problem I have with this product is that I wish the carafe fit more snugly on the base. This would decrease vibration. Capacity is wonderful. Cleans up easily. Looks good on the counter. I'm pleased.

I bought this blender after my Cuisinart blender burnt out. I went with the recommendation from Americans Test Kitchen web site. I love it. I have made four batches of Hummus in it and there is never a burning smell, and the hummus comes out really smooth. I have also made protein shake smoothies that come out incredibly smooth. I have to say the blender is really loud, but I am so happy with the performance it doesn't bother me.

There is a plastic piece with prongs on the top of the motor where the pitcher connects to and it breaks. Why they have a metal part on the pitcher and a plastic part on the motor makes no sense. Poor design, thought..... Funny how it broke just after a year of owning and I was told there is no replacement part and I am over the year warranty so I'm SOL. Will never purchase a Kitchenaid appliance again....poor customer service also. A blender you pay this kind of money on should last longer then a year.....
